We were preoccupied by worrying developments in February, including two wars in our members’ regions. We take a look at the rangers in Ukraine and how they and nature have been coping with three years of war. And our thoughts are with the relatives of the Israeli ranger Ohad Yahalomi, who, most tragically, was unable to return alive from captivity.

On the other hand, we are encouraged by the unbroken will in the protected areas of Ukraine and their international supporters to stand up for nature conservation. And the work of rangers in new protected areas such as the Trient Valley Nature Reserve, who have managed to protect nature with great patience and respect. We also warmly welcome another sponsor to our Ranger Leaf programme for rangers in need. And we are calling on all European rangers to help us make their valuable work more visible with a video of themselves!
