November was all about building bridges: Be it our theme for the European Ranger Congress in October 2025, ‘Rangers – the voice of nature: Building a bridge between local communities and nature conservation’. Or the highly inspiring example of Barbara and Christoph Promberger, who are striving for nothing less than the largest national park in Europe – and need to unite all the inhabitants of the surrounding communities behind this goal.

With the Junior Rangers in Brandenburg, the supervising rangers build a bridge from the diversity of nature to the diversity of children and young people among themselves and how they learn to find solutions even with different approaches. And in an interview on the first comprehensive fact check on biodiversity at a national level, one of the leading scientists concludes that rangers have an important role to play in more than just explaining the importance of biodiversity to people: By enabling people to experience nature, they also build a bridge to a more emotional understanding of biodiversity.
