Why is the Carpathian Day relevant for European rangers?

As many as eight countries in our ERF region are Carpathian countries: Austria, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine and Serbia. And because this day is dedicated to raising awareness of the enormous natural and cultural treasures of these great Carpathian regions, it is also a day for all their rangers and protected areas! Besides, as the Carpathian region holds a wealth of traditions, cultural sites, biodiversity, unique habitats and species, its ecological and cultural impact radiates far beyond the region.

What is the Carpathian Day?

Carpathian Day is a yearly celebration of diverse and common identities, landscapes, heritage and love for the Carpathian region that takes places on or around 26 September.

Which are the goals of the Carpathian Day?

  • Help cultivate a Carpathian identity, raise environmental and cultural awareness of mountain landscapes, and inspire further protection and sustainable development of local communities.
  • Unite to preserve, celebrate and promote our precious natural and cultural heritage.
  • Foster a sense of pride and belonging across the Carpathian Region.

How to contribute?

Activities for local Carpathian Day events are decided upon and organized by the interested hosts; thus, they may vary according to the specific localities and target audience. Check here on how you and your team can be part!
