All over Europe, natural areas aim at conserving biodiversity and reconnecting people with nature. A few men and women work in the field to care for these areas: the Rangers.

Protecting Nature

Monitoring Nature

Rangers are the “eyes and ears” of the organisations managing protected areas. Day after day, they survey, monitor and report on the natural resources.

Law Enforcement

To prevent offences against protected area regulations, Rangers patrol their territory. Law enforcement and surveillance are major duties of rangers.

Involving people

Nature interpretation with visitors is an essential element of protecting nature by involving people’s minds and hearts. Rangers also provide links between local communities, protected areas and area administration.
